The 31-year-old triumphed in the men’s +100 kg division, adding another title to an already decorated career at the elite level of international judo.

Khammo first rose to global prominence in 2015 when he captured a bronze medal at the World Championships in Astana. That same year he also earned bronze at the 2015 European Games, along with a team bronze medal, marking a breakthrough season for the Ukrainian heavyweight.

Earlier in his career, Khammo established himself as one of the sport’s most promising young competitors. He was crowned European Junior Champion in 2014 and also claimed a medal at the World Junior Championships, following a team bronze at the 2013 Junior World Championships.

Over the years he has continued to build an impressive résumé across the international judo circuit. Among his victories are titles at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2015, Grand Prix Düsseldorf, and the Grand Slam in Baku. He later captured the Grand Prix in The Hague in 2018, while also earning bronze at the IJF World Masters in Doha in 2021.

Khammo has also represented Ukraine on the Olympic stage, competing at both the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2020 Summer Olympics. In the men’s +100 kg category, he finished ninth in Rio de Janeiro and achieved an impressive fifth-place finish in Tokyo.

His latest victory in Ljubljana continues a strong run of results in European Open competitions. In recent years he also claimed gold at the European Open in Riccione in 2022, Prague in 2024, and Warsaw in 2025, highlighting his consistent dominance on the continental circuit.
