Sanhareeb Sports Club of Nohadra (Dohuk) delivered a standout performance at the West Asia Women’s Volleyball Championship in Kuwait, finishing the tournament in an impressive fifth place after a series of strong and competitive displays.

Representing Iraq in Group C, the Assyrian side dominated the group stage, recording three consecutive victories. Sanhareeb opened their campaign with a 3–1 win over Saudi Arabia’s Al Fayhaa Club, followed by a convincing 3–0 victory against Palestine’s Al Quds Club, before edging Jordan’s Al Nassr Club 3–2. With a perfect record of three wins from three matches, Sanhareeb advanced to the quarterfinals on the maximum nine points.

In the quarterfinals, Sanhareeb faced Saudi Arabia’s Ola Club in a tightly contested match. Despite a determined and spirited performance, the team suffered a narrow 3–2 defeat.

Sanhareeb responded strongly in the placement matches to contest fifth place. The team once again overcame Al Fayhaa of Saudi Arabia with a 3–2 victory, before concluding their campaign emphatically with a dominant 3–0 win over Kuwait’s Salwa Al-Sabah Sports Club.

With these results, Sanhareeb Sports Club proudly secured fifth place at the West Asia Women’s Volleyball Championship, an achievement that builds on their recent success in winning the Iraqi Women’s Volleyball League and underscores the club’s growing stature on the regional stage.

Named in homage to the legendary Assyrian king Sennacherib, Sanhareeb Sports Club continues to showcase the strength and depth of sporting excellence within the Assyrian community, across multiple disciplines and among both men and women.
