The Assyria Post has recently surpassed 2.5 million impressions across its social media channels. Despite being a relatively new outlet, with operations beginning only in the autumn of last year, the Post has already achieved considerable reach—particularly on X (formerly Twitter).

“Our accounts are still quite small in terms of follower numbers, but we are punching well above our weight when it comes to actual impressions, which is a far more meaningful metric,” said Maialen García, the Post’s social media intern from Barcelona.

In recent weeks, the Assyria Post’s reach on X has been comparable to that of accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers, and even some news outlets with over a million followers. An increasing number of journalists, policymakers, and other influential voices are discovering the Assyria Post, largely through viral posts on X.

Co-editor David Barsom believes the outlet is filling an important gap. “There is a clear demand for Assyrian news told from an Assyrian perspective, not only among Assyrians, but also among non-Assyrians who want to understand where Assyrians stand on key issues in Assyria and neighboring regions. Assyrians have long been underrepresented in public discourse, and much of the reporting about us remains internal, failing to reach the English-speaking world.”

The Assyria Post can be followed on X, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
